Nothing else was mentioned about the story until after another week had passed. It was a Thursday morning, December 9th, and we were getting ready to run a few errands. You entered my bedroom and said "Mommy, I heard God call my name again" I said, "You did?" You said, "Yes, I was brushing my teeth and I stopped and put my toothbrush down. Then I closed my eyes and said 'God, I'm listening.'" Then you paused for a moment and looked up at me with those big blue eyes of yours and said, "Then Mommy, I asked God into my heart!" I was so shocked that you had just asked the Lord our Savior into your heart! I immediately ran over and gave you a big hug and through lots of tears, told you how very proud I was of you.
We sat up a meeting with Spring Heflin, our Children's Ministry director at church so you could talk to her about your story. I was still a little concerned that you were just reliving the story but she said after meeting with you that she had no doubt it was for real. She said that you had answered her questions better than some of her sixth graders! You were so very excited about being baptized and we, of course, made a big deal of it.
We had over thirty family and friends attend your baptism. We felt so much love for you the day your baptism rolled around. We could not have been more proud of you for taking this step in your life and we continue to pray that God watches over you and uses your life for His purpose.
Here are some pictures from your extra special day!
You and Mamaw, who drove up here all by herself so she could be with you on your special day! You know she doesn't drive much so that was a really big deal. She loves you very much!
Family shot before leaving the house
Our little Tiger Cub before your Baptism. We scheduled your Baptism on Scout Sunday, February 13th, and the church had asked that you wear your uniform since the Scouts played such a big role in your story. You were excited about wearing your uniform!
Pastor Bill asking you the questions of the church. You answered every one with a heartfelt, "Yes Sir!"
Getting ready for the submersion.
Born again in Christ!
Bennett is just too cute praying for you in this one!
And this one!
Everybody congratulating you after the Baptism.
You and Ashton. You had so many other friends there for you and I'm really sad that I didn't get a photo of you with each of them. I was just too caught up in the moment to think of it.
After the Baptism, everyone went out to eat at Abner's for lunch (your choice) and then came back to our house to have dessert and visit. We definitely wanted to celebrate your day!
Your non-traditional cool "Birth-Day" Cake. You loved the red (your favorite color now) and the black. When it came time to cut the cake, you wanted a piece of the cross.
Taking a moment to read your cards and open your gifts.
Entertaining your guests with a little song on the guitar.
It was an absolute wonderfully, blessed day. There was so much love felt by not only God, but our family and friends. Your are one very blessed little boy. And to end the wonderful day, you and Bennett finished the night by cuddling with Mamaw before bedtime. Not something they get to do very often. Extra special day indeed!
